Leadership Development

“The leadership research findings Rob shared - and their implications — have had a major impact on our executive team and for me personally. He captured the true essence of the attributes of great leaders in a way I never found in a competency model or other training or reading I’d done. I refer to these findings every year when I set my goals, and always present them to new leaders who work for me as the bar we aspire to reach.”

“Nissan engaged Rob to help us build and deliver training for its global high potential leaders in strategy development, organization design, and leadership. Rob’s real world experience has helped us deliver a program that both taught the concepts and engaged our leaders in applying them to real business issues. The program has been a huge success, preparing Nissan’s next generation of leaders for their future roles. Rob’s help in development and delivery (primarily in Japan) were outstanding.”

Think you’ve heard everything there is to be said about what differentiates good leaders from amazing leaders? What causes one leader to get intermittent good results, and another to get sustainably outstanding results?

Give us 90 minutes with you or your executive team and we promise it will be transforming.

Several years ago we were working with two clients – Nissan and Comcast – on strategy development projects. As the strategy neared completion, discussions with their Presidents independently led to the topic of did they have the leadership required to ensure implementation? Both companies were using well-regarded leadership competency models, but felt that the essence of what was needed for ‘real leadership’ was not captured by the 80+ competencies included in these models.

We were engaged to conduct 90 minute in-depth interviews with 18 ‘C’ level executives that we together identified as being ‘amazing’ leaders. Also interviewed were several peers and subordinates of each executive.

The results took us down a path less traveled. When presented to my clients, the response was ‘holy #@$& - you’ve nailed it.’ Most clients who have seen this work tell us that they pull it out regularly and self-assess their personal progress and gaps. Others tell us they use these findings to set expectations with new direct reports. Several companies have built these findings into their recruiting and selection processes, and we have been referred to other companies, divisions, and even conducted a webinar for an industry association with over 120 participants.

So let’s book a 90-minute session with your team. We can assure you that you won’t think of leadership in the same way afterwards.
